Tidwell Excavating was established in 1956 as a general engineering contractor with a focus on dry utilities in Central and Southern California.

OUR HISTORY
In 1996, on its 40th anniversary the company’s scope expanded to include vault, substructure, manhole and conduit placement for telephone and power utilities when Southern California Edison awarded Tidwell a civil construction managed business relationship (MBR) contract. Over the years, design, construction coordination and project management have become mainstays of Tidwell’s business capabilities.
Meruelo Enterprises Inc. (MEI) acquired Tidwell in 2001, bringing new synergistic opportunities and a further expansion of the company’s scope of services that, although reflecting a new name, Tidwell Excavating Acquisition Company, Inc., continues to do business proudly as Tidwell Excavating.
